In light of the introduction of Administrative Instrument 1, individuals holding foreign qualifications in the field of occupational health and safety are now required to demonstrate familiarity with Maltese occupational health and safety legislation, specifically Chapter 646 of the Laws of Malta.

To support this requirement, the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), in collaboration with Jobsplus, has developed a specialised training programme titled “Maltese Occupational Health and Safety Legislative Framework.”

This course has been specifically designed to equip learners with a comprehensive understanding of Malta’s Occupational Health and Safety Legal Framework.

The programme covers key aspects of the Maltese legal system, including the Health and Safety at Work Act of 2024 and its subsidiary legislation. Participants will gain essential knowledge of Chapter 646 of the Laws of Malta and acquire the necessary legal insight to manage health and safety responsibilities effectively within the local context.

The course consists of a single module delivered over 22 hours, which includes two hours allocated for a final written assessment.

The assessment will evaluate participants’ understanding through a combination of multiple-choice and open-ended questions. Upon successful completion, learners will have a sound grasp of Malta’s OHS legislative environment, enabling them to meet compliance requirements and apply best practices in workplace health and safety.

Registration for the course is available free of charge via the Jobsplus website through this link: https://jobsplus.gov.mt/jobseeker-courses/course-details-jobseeker

The course will be delivered entirely online.
